Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired "The B Team," a spec pitch package for an Adam McKay-directed action comedy that will team Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as cops, Variety writes.

Chris Henchy and McKay will write the script.

Pic will be a co-production between Gary Sanchez Prods. and Mosaic. Sony has not set a release date on the film, but it is expected to go into production as quickly as the filmmakers can get it ready.

Mickey RourkeMickey Rourke will star in indie drama “St. Vincent,” directed by Walter Hill for Occupant Films and Secret Handshake Entertainment.

Production’s slated to begin later this year. Keith Calder, Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino of Occupant and Dena Hysell and Joe Gressis of Secret Handshake will produce the film.

“St. Vincent,” scripted by Cameron Young, centers on a hit man returning to his former New York City neighborhood to finish off the botched killing of an informant. He’s then forced to masquerade as a priest and finds himself taking the confessions of his target.

Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman have signed on for the comedy The Baster, in which Bateman's character dupes Aniston's character into having his child.

The directors of Blades of Glory, Will Speck and Josh Gordon, will direct. Curiously, the script is adapted from a short story by Jeffrey Eugenides, who wrote the book Virgin Suicides as well as one of my all-time favorite books: Middlesex.

Film will begin shooting in the spring.

Set in a border town, "Cross" returns Niccol -- Oscar-nommed for writing "The Truman Show" -- to his favorite domain: the near future. Bloom plays a man seeking to cross a mysterious border, something no one else has achieved; Cassel limns the guard who will go to any lengths to foil him.

Al Pacino is to be crowned King Lear in a new film adaptation of the Shakespeare tragedy, it has been announced.

"King Lear" has been filmed several times with Laurence Olivier, Orson Welles and Paul Scofield among those in the title role.

Michael Radford is to direct the film, his second Shakespearean effort with Pacino - after 2004's Merchant of Venice - and will begin shooting in Europe later this year, according to Variety.
