Keanu Reeves is taking on another sci-fi mission for 20th Century Fox.
Reeves will take on the role of Spike Spiegel in an adaptation of the Japanese anime TV series "Cowboy Bebop" - as an adventurous bounty hunter traveling through space in 2071.

The television series first aired on Tokyo TV and Wowow in 1998. It eventually aired in the U.S. as part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block.

Jaden Smith has found himself a mentor. Jackie Chan will take on Pat Morita's Mr. Miyagi role in Sony Pictures' remake of The Karate Kid.

The movie stars 10-year old Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness), who is the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, and will be directed by Harold Zwart (The Pink Panther 2). Will's production company, Overbrook, will produce, and Jada has been rumored for the role of Jaden's mother in the film. China Film Corp. Group will coproduce the movie, which will shoot entirely in China.

"Karate Kid" will shoot early this summer in Beijing.

Mickey Rourke is moving on from being a washed-up professional wrestler Randy "The Ram" Robinson in "The Wrestler" to portraying a super villain in "Iron Man 2".

Script is still being written by Justin Theroux, and Marvel has been trying to keep a wrap on details leaking out to fanboys.

Rourke was said to have dropped out over pay when word hit the web the Oscar-nominated actor had been offered a measly $250,000 for the role. Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily says Rourke’s agent David Unger got the quote up to a “significant” level.

Iron Man 2 production is underway and is set for a May 7, 2010 release.

Tintin and MilouSimon Pegg and Nick Frost will play bumbling detectives Thompson and Thomson in Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg's two-pic "Tintin" project.

The 3-D performance-capture films, based on Georges Remi's comicbooks and co-financed by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Paramount Pictures, will center on Tintin's adventures as a fearless reporter.

Captain Haddock will be played by Andy Serkis however the role of Tintin has yet to be cast. Thomas Sangster had been set for the role, but exited when the project was delayed due to funding difficulties caused by the DreamWorks/Paramount split.

The film is schedule for release 2010.

John CurranJohn Curran is set to direct "The Beautiful and the Damned," a Film Department period drama that will star Keira Knightley. The film begins production in March.

The epic revolves around the Jazz Age icons F. Scott Fitzgerald, famed for writing "The Great Gatsby," and Zelda Sayre known for living large, soaring high and crashing hard. Although they were both the toast of the town during the roaring '20s, their courtship and marriage was festooned with jealousy and acrimony with both parties using the relationship as the basis for their various novels.

Knightley will play Sayre and the role of Fitzgerald is yet to be filled.
